Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2023 – 2024

According to sub-section (1) of Section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) issued Notifications on 23rd August 2010 and 29th July 2011. These Notifications established the minimum qualifications required for individuals seeking appointment as teachers for classes I to VIII in schools mentioned under Clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act.

One of the essential qualifications outlined in these Notifications is the successful completion of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The TET is conducted by the appropriate Government in adherence to the Guidelines formulated by the NCTE. The purpose of the TET is to assess the eligibility of candidates and ensure they possess the necessary qualifications and competencies to effectively serve as teachers.

Changes in Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Examination Format

Important Announcement:

We would like to inform all the candidates registered for the 17th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) that there has been an update regarding the examination format. The CTET examination will now be conducted in offline mode, specifically using the pen-paper (OMR) based method (Ref. Letter: CBSE/CTET/2023 Dated: 09/06/2023).

Date and Mode of Examination: The CTET examination will take place on 20th August 2023 (Sunday) across various cities throughout India. All candidates are requested to note this change and make necessary preparations accordingly.

Offline Mode – Pen-Paper (OMR) Based: The shift to the pen-paper (OMR) based format means that candidates will be required to use a pen to mark their answers on the provided OMR sheets during the examination. It is important to familiarize yourself with this mode of examination and practice accordingly to enhance your performance on the test day.

Specified Cities: The examination will be conducted in designated cities across India. Please refer to the official CTET website or the provided examination notification for a list of specified cities where the CTET examination will be held.

Eligibility Criteria for applying for CTET Certificate

The persons possessing minimum qualifications for the teaching staff in accordance with the following are eligible for appearing in the CTET:

  1. National Council for Teacher Education (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Persons to be recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges) Regulations as amended and notified from time to time.
  2. Minimum qualifications laid down in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by the Appropriate Government where the school is situated or the Recruitment Rules for the teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
  3. The candidate should satisfy his/her eligibility before applying and shall be personally responsible in case he/she is not eligible to apply as per the given eligibility criteria. It is to be noted that if a candidate has been allowed to appear in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test it does not imply that the candidate’s eligibility has been verified. It does not vest any right with the candidate for appointment. The eligibility shall be finally verified, by the concerned recruiting agency / appointing authority.

How to Obtain a CTET Certificate?

To obtain a CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) certificate, you need to follow a series of steps. Here is a breakdown of the process:

  1. Check Eligibility: Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria for the CTET examination. The requirements may differ based on whether you wish to teach at the primary level (classes I to V) or elementary level (classes VI to VIII).
  2. Submit Application: Visit the official CTET website (www.ctet.nic.in) during the designated application period. Fill out the online application form accurately, providing all necessary personal and educational details.
  3. Pay Application Fee: Complete the payment of the application fee, which can typically be done online using various payment methods available on the website.
  4. Obtain Admit Card: Once the admit cards are released, download yours from the official website. The admit card will contain essential information such as the examination date, time, and venue.
  5. Take the Examination: On the scheduled date, appear for the CTET examination. The exam consists of two papers: Paper I for aspiring teachers of classes I to V, and Paper II for those aiming to teach classes VI to VIII. Please visit https://www.digilocker.gov.in/ to download Teacher Eligibility Test Mark-sheet and/or Certificate.

Overall steps:-

  1. Login with your registered mobile no or Aadhaar number
  2. After login into Digilocker, select the Get More Now/Get Issued Documents option.
  3. Select Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.
  4. Select Teacher Eligibility Test Mark-sheet or Certificate.
  5. Enter your Roll No. and Select the Year of passing document.
  6. click on the checkbox then click on Get Document.

After completion of the above steps document will be saved into the Issued Documents tab (if not, then repeat the above steps).
Before applying these steps please ensure that your Aadhaar is linked with your Digilocker account.

The time period for online correction is announced along with schedule of examination. Therefore, candidates should read the Information Bulletin carefully, During Online correction period, a candidate by login on our Website can make corrections. Line for online corrections remain functional and closes as per schedule mentioned in information Bulletin. No change will be accepted through offline mode i.e. through fax/application or by email etc. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Please note that no request for any change in particulars is to be accepted under any circumstances after the specified date for online correction is over. After making correction, candidate should ensure that he/she has downloaded the revised Confirmation Page. Previously generated Confirmation Page will be no longer valid once the corrections are made during specified period.
10How    can    we    get           the    Eligibility Certificate and Mark Sheets of CTET?The Eligibility Certificate and Mark Sheets of CTET     will     be     available     on     Digilocker ( https://www.digilocker.gov.in ) and candidate can get the same by filling required credentials.
11Who will get the Eligibility Certificate?As per NCTE Notification No. 76- 4/2010/NCTE/Acad Dated 11.02.2011: A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered as TET Pass. School Managements (Governments ,local bodies government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to person belonging to SC/ST OBC differently able persons, etc. in accordance with their extant reservation policy. Should give weightage to the CTET scores in the recruitment process.
12What is/are Weeding Out rules(s)?The record of Central Teacher Eligibility Test is preserved up to Two months from the date of declaration of result in accordance with CBSE Examination Weeding out rules. Thereafter it will be disposed of as per Weeding Out rules.
13What is the Procedure of document verificationThe    document(s)    should          be          forwarded        by concerning    recruitment                     authority                     only.                     The confidential Verification Report will be sent to the Department concerned.

14Can a candidate/applicant get the copy of            verification            report            by himself/herself?No. This Verification Report is strictly confidential and it is sent to the concerning Department only.
15What is Information Bulletin?Information   Bulletin    is                     an                     official                     document published by CBSE on CTET website, having all the important information relating to CTET.
16How the city for exam centre is allotted?Generally Board makes effort to allot exam centre in the city as per candidate’s first choice of exam city. However, Board reserves the right to allot any centre/city.
17How many Papers are there in one CTET?There are two Papers in each CTET Paper 1: For Class I to V Paper II: For Class VI to VIII If a candidate intends to teach Classes from I-VIII, he/she has to appear in both the Papers.
18What is the time duration of each Test?The duration of each test is 2:30 Hrs.
19Is there any special provision for Differently Abled candidates?The provision of scribe and compensatory time in CTET examination is in accordance with the Office Memorandum dated 26th February 2013 issued by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and revised from time to time vide RPwD Act, 2016 and Office Memorandum dated 29.08.2018
20Any aspirant pursuing B.Ed. 1st year can apply for CTET ? OR Can Candidates whose final year result is yet to be declared apply for CTET ? OR Whose exam/result date is after CTET exam/result date can also apply for CTET ? .CBSE is an examination conducting body only which conducts the CTET exam as per the guidelines laid down by the NCTE, Delhi. 21If a candidate passed D.EL.ED, B.Ed. or any other teaching education. Will the CTET certificate is valid for government jobs or have to reappear in CTET exam again.The eligibility shall be finally verified, by the concerned recruiting agency / appointing authority.
22How many days CBSE will take to complete the verification of above document and if CBSE is not doing offline verification please provide the valid reason for this.Since 2015 verification were only done through a QR Code and a Public Notice has also been published regarding this matter sent to department. However for offline Verification kindly send a letter through a concerned department in CTET Unit.
23Whether such candidate are eligible to appear in CTET who has completed their graduation from IGNOU that is through open mode and teacher training course such as Diploma in Elementary Education from regular mode simultaneously in the same academic sessions or year but in different modes graduation from open and D.EL.ED from regular modeCBSE is an examination conducting body only which conducts the CTET exam as per the guidelines laid down by the NCTE, Delhi. Such issues do not fall under the jurisdiction of CBSE/CTET being an examination conducting body only.
